The annual Martin Luther King Jr. march, magic shows, a baseball diamond dedication, the return of Community Thanksgiving — 2023 was a great year to gather in Yellow Springs.

After being put on pause at the start of the pandemic, the local Beloved Community Project resumed its monthly free community meals at First Presbyterian Church on Saturday, Oct. 21.

All the requests for this year’s Share the Joy tree have been made, and tags with gift requests are waiting to be filled at the Yellow Springs Library. The deadline for filling the requests is Friday, Dec. 16, by the library’s closing time at 6 p.m.

Red Rock Dance Festival Dance has had to take on a wide variety of forms during the pandemic, and has inspired artists in different ways. This weekend, St. George Dance hosts the Red Rocks Dance Festival, incorporating both invigorating live performance and the creativity that has been made possible by filmed dance. Thursday, June 10 kicks off the three-day schedule with the Screen Dance Film Festival, featuring three blocks of short works at 6 p.m., 7 p.m., 8 p.m. and 9 p.m. at the Dixie State University Electric Theater.
