Casino giant SkyCity Entertainment Group wants to raise $125 million via a bond issue and says earnings will be well below pre-pandemic levels.
The gaming, entertainment and hospitality business has released an offer document showing how it can receive an additional $50m, taking the offer up to $175m if it decides to.
SkyCity has announced an offer of up to $125 million, with the ability to accept over-subscriptions of up to an additional $50 million at SkyCity s discretion, of six-year, unsecured, unsubordinated, fixed-rate bonds maturing on May 21, 2027 to institutional investors and New Zealand retail investors, it said. ....

Winter has arrived slightly early in the South Island, with freezing temperatures and dumps of snow in many places this morning.
A midnight storm dumped about a centimetre of snow onto the Porters Alpine Resort near Castle Hill near Arthurs Pass early this morning.
And parts of inland Otago woke to below-zero temperatures - down to -3.2C.
Porters operations manager Blair James hoped the cold snap was an early indicator of good snowfall this season. ....

Recovers slowly from setback in February
The rainfall recorded for the country as a whole has continued to improve after having fallen steeply from a position of strength of an excess of 17 per cent in January to as low as a deficit of -68 per cent (of the normal) in only the following month (February) which has since been in a gradual recovery mode.
The recorded rainfall figures improved to -45 per cent by the end of March and -26 per cent as of Monday (yesterday, April 25) after the South Peninsula, West Maharashtra and adjoining Central India and parts of North-West India recorded good rainfall. Part of East India and North-East India are still in deficit. ....

Active Covid-19 cases fall below 100,000, but deaths top 100 a day

AFTER a week of declaring time-based recoveries, active coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) cases fell below 100,000 for the first time in a month.
Deaths from Covid-19, however, continued to exceed 100 for the fourth day in a row.
DOH Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire warned against complacency and reminded the public to continue adhering strictly to health protocols.
We are already seeing a decline in cases. But we don t want to be complacent because we want to see a continuous drop in cases, said Vergeire.
In its case bulletin on Saturday, April 24, 2021, the Department of Health (DOH) reported 9,661 new cases, less than 10,000 for the sixth consecutive day. ....

Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies posted sharp losses on Friday, on concern that U.S. President Joe Biden s plan to raise capital gains taxes will curb investments in digital assets.
