Heater Causes Fire At Bend Sewer Facility

A fire to a Bend facility caused $20,000 damage but didn't cause any disruptions Sunday. Bend Police arrived first to find a fire on the exterior of the building, identified as the West Bend Sewer Lift Station. Fire crews arrived around 6:40 a.m. and were able to keep the fire spread into the building to a minimum. Bend Utility Department was contacted and representatives responded. Man Dies After Snowmobile Crash

A 47-year-old man from Haslet, Texas died after the snowmobile he was riding crashed into a tree near Wanoga Sno Park Sunday. According to the Deschutes County Sheriff's Office, about 5:04 PM, 911 Dispatch Center received a call regarding an injured snowmobile rider that had crashed into a tree near Wanoga Snow Park in Bend. The 911 caller reported that the injured rider was approximately 1-mile into the forested area southwest of the Wanoga Snow Park parking lot. Tumalo Resident Escapes Attic Fire

Bend Fire and Rescue crews responded to a reported house fire at 66015 White Rock loop early Wednesday. The occupant awoke to a smoke alarm activation and smoke in the house. They safely evacuated and called 911. The first arriving engine found a working attic fire. 3 engines, 1 ladder truck, 1 water tender, 2 medic, 1 command vehicle, and 2 support units responded with Cloverdale and Redmond fire departments providing mutual aid assistance. Value of the Structure and contents is estimated at $400000 with $150000 in loss due to the fire. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
