Akers appointed as Kanawha Circuit Judge, taking seat left by King's death
CHARLESTON – Maryclaire Akers has been appointed as a Kanawha Circuit Court judge, taking over the seat left by the death of Judge Charles King. Akers, who has practiced law for 21 years, currently is a Senior Assistant Prosecutor with the Kanawha County Prosecuting Attorney’s office. She also has served as that office’s chief of staff. In addition, she was a Special Assistant U.S. Attorney, general counsel for the state Ethics Commission and an assistant state Attorney General.
