Thousands of people are expected to be at State Fair Park this weekend for the Oklahoma City Auto Show, during which people can see unique vehicles while COVID-19 safety precautions are in place.One of the hard-to-miss sights at the auto show is the GM Futurliner. It’s one of 12 built more than 80 years ago, and only nine still exist.“They were built by General Motors for their Parade of Progress,” said Dave Yard, executive director of the National Automotive and Truck Museum.General Motors took the 12 Futurliners on a tour of the country, showing medium and rural areas a glimpse of what the future would hold.“When this was built in 1939, most people did not have access to a newspaper,” Yard said. “There were no telephones in a lot of these areas, and, of course, there was no television. So, news was second-hand and traveled very slowly.”Each Futurliner had a stage and a different theme. They even had rotary phones, jet propulsion and microwave technology.“By ....
