Following the mass shooting at Michigan State University, students started a petition to not return to in-person class on Monday.

Police have confirmed that Anthony McRae, 43, did not speak to officers after being told to put his hands above his head - and shot himself 3.8miles away from the campus.

Police confirmed that McRae had a suicide note on his person after he shot himself in the head when approached by officers close to his home on Monday.

McRae was previously arrested in 2019 for possession of a loaded Ruger .380 handgun and charged with a felony - which was ultimately downgraded.
