Nine candidates across three regions are running for five spots on the Pocono Mountain School District board of directors.
Unlike Monroe County’s other three districts, Pocono Mountain elects board members by region rather than having voters in the entire district vote for at-large candidates.
In Region 1, which includes Barrett, Paradise and Pocono townships, voters can vote for two candidates.
Christina J. Grape-Garvey and Nathan Strunk have cross-filed, meaning they will appear on ballots in both the Democratic and Republican primaries. Christian Christoffersen will only appear on the Republican ballot. None of these candidates are currently on the board.
The League of Women Voters sought answers from the candidates on this question: “What do you see as the biggest issue facing your school district and how would you recommend addressing it?”
