Death by electricity: Cry to act against negligent grows loud

Notice has been issued to the Additional Chief Secretary of Energy department, Managing Director of the Bengaluru Electricity Supply Company (Bescom) and others. Lokayukta Justice BS Patil has sought a report regarding the tragedy in two weeks. The case has been registered under the provisions of the Section 7(1)(B) of the Karnataka Lokayukta Act and others.

Knock, knock... Have a property tax receipt?

BBMP officials state that they are attempting to identify all properties within their jurisdiction that have been out of the tax net so far. They aim to identify properties without khata or unpaid property taxes, deeming them as B khata and subsequently collecting property tax. A BBMP official said that they have taken up the task of digitising the properties in the city and to begin with the pilot project has been taken up at four wards; CV Raman Nagar, Horamavu, Kodigenahalli and Arakere. This project is likely to be completed in three months.
