The BBMP authorities have explicitly instructed telecom service providers and cable operators to utilise the utility ducts designated for this purpose on city roads. Despite these efforts, neither the BBMP authorities nor the state government have issued crucial guidelines for the telecom service providers and cable operators, leaving the situation unresolved.
The original contractual agreement stipulated completion by the end of 2021; however, as of the end of 2023, the project still remains incomplete. When reached for comment, BESCOM MD Mahantesh Bilagi said that the project is progressing, and he will instruct officials to expedite its completion.
According to him, the BESCOM engineer who registered a case against him made it clear to him that he came to inspect the residential building after seeing the video on electronic and social media. "In the face of an unjust and excessive demand for payment to be made, it is my right as a consumer to voice my concern and protest against such practices," Kumaraswamy said.
