Around 800 police personnel, along with jawans from paramilitary forces are deployed to keep vigil with thousands of farmer who are turning up on the Main Road adjoining Mohali Golf Range and Railway track, Phase-XI.
“These colonies had come up around the 56 acre of prime land in the revenue estate of Sultanpur village falling in the Urban Area and Controlled Area,” said district town planner (DTP) Sumeet Malik, who handles matters regarding illegal colonies.
Giving details of the operation, Cheema said in Mohali district’s Nayagaon area, one restaurant ‘I love Hot shot’ was found serving ‘hookahs’ which was meant for sale in Chandigarh only, thereby violating various provisions of law.
