Share Gov t committed to expand BFC to travel goods Thu, 6 May 2021 The Cambodian government, through the Ministry of Labour and Vocational Training, is committed to expanding the scope of the implementation of the Better Factories Cambodia (BFC) project to travel goods and bag factories to boost competitiveness in the industry. Ministry secretary of state Heng Sour made the remark on May 6 during a meeting with the US Trade Representative (USTR) via video link. The meeting focused on the Cambodia-US Trade and Investment Framework Agreement (TIFA) and discussed progress in the field of labour, according to the ministry. During the meeting, Sour presented the progress of work related to the registration of professional organisations, the Arbitration Council s resolution of labour disputes, and the inspection of labour conditions during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Share Ministry calls for buyers understanding amid lockdown Thu, 29 April 2021 A senior labour official urged buyers of Cambodian goods to be understanding and not penalise delays or divert orders to other countries, as the Kingdom s factories and enterprises face temporary closures and blockades imposed to fight the spread of Covid-19 in the community. The government on April 26 extended the lockdown of Phnom Penh and Takmao town of Kandal province for another seven days from April 29 to May 5. Ministry of Labour and Vocational Training spokesman Heng Sour told a press conference on the lockdown extension on April 28 that the ministry is working closely with unions, factory owners, the International Labour Organisation, Better Factories Cambodia and other relevant parties to appeal to buyers for their understanding.
