The co-producer of MTV’s hit reality show “RuPaul’s Drag Race” told an audience of New School students that he believes we are living through a “media revolution.” This was among the many topics Fenton discussed during a 90-minute long discussion moderated by Assistant Journalism & Design Professor Liesl Schillinger. He also touched on his time as a film student, his stint as a band member of “The Fabulous Pop Tarts,” and the role television plays in the ever-changing media landscape.

Ten years ago, Mohamed Abdur Rob was part of a team of firefighters who rescued garment workers trapped in the rubble of Rana Plaza after the building collapsed. Over 1100 people died. His experience motivated him to become a fire safety officer in a garment factory.

It is 10 years since more than 1000 people died in the Rana Plaza textile factory collapse in Bangladesh in April 2013. In the intervening years, regulations to improve factory safety has been introduced in Bangladesh, and issues related to worker safety and human rights has become an issue to manage and ameliorate for companies and investors.
