Dozens of people took their seats Saturday ahead of a planned celebration of life for the late Beverly Pearson at the Pearson Lakes Art Center's outdoor amphitheater. Pearson passed away in March after decades of supporting the center — and by Saturday's noon starting time, there were more people present than the amphitheater's stone slabs could comfortably accommodate.
Beverly Pearson, age 96, of Des Moines and formerly of Spencer died Monday, March 20, 2023 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines. A celebration of life and a private family graveside service will be held at a later date. Pastor Deb Mechler is expected to officiate, and burial will take place at Riverside Cemetery in Spencer.
