At 2:30 a.m. Friday, the Kentucky River reached major flood stage and its highest level in more than a decade — 40.16 feet. It is projected to steadily fall throughout the day and dip below moderate flood stage to 34.7 feet by 1 p.m. Saturday. The National Weather Service in Louisville issued a flood warning for areas in Frankfort and Franklin County that are near the river earlier in the week.
