Scooter's Coffee, a drive-thru-only Starbucks and 7 Brew will be added to the Tuscaloosa area's coffee shop scene.

Some recent additions to the Tuscaloosa coffee scene include PJ's Coffee, a third location of Heritage House and Tea and Strange Brew Coffeehouse.

A German deli, a new sushi spot in a familiar location and a bubble tea shop were among the restaurants to open in Tuscaloosa during 2021.

Arrival of Tuska The biggest change is 7 tons: Tuska, a life-sized bronze elephant statue, has been installed outside Bryant-Denny Stadium's north side. Here's a look at some recent restaurant openings and closings in Tuscaloosa: Ruan Thai: Ruan Thai, a restaurant spun off from the earlier Siam House, which was for many Tuscaloosans their first taste of Thai cuisine, closed Feb. 20. Siam House, in a different location, opened in 1991, but closed in 2002. Owner Alp Yeager moved to the location, at 1407 University Blvd. in 2006, re-opening as Ruan Thai (which means Thai house).
