Robin Hugh Krantz – Flora

Robin Hugh Krantz, age 69, of Flora, Illinois, passed away Thursday afternoon, June 3, 2021, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt. Vernon. He was born March 4, 1952, in Flora, the son of James and Pearl (Manning) Krantz. He married Frances D. Williams on November 13, 1978, in Rinard. He and Francie have shared all of life's events and special occasions together including 42 wedding anniversaries. Rob worked in the oil field, as a farmhand, and bred paint and quarter horses. He was a member of the American Quarter Horse Association and a founding member of the Flatlanders Motorcycle Club. He also served in the US Army. Rob worked harder than the next guy and played harder than the next ten guys. He was a man of few words. He listened more than he talked, but when he did speak it was something you wanted to listen to. He loved motorcycles, arrowheads, rock-and-roll music, horses, his John Deere 4020 tractor, shade trees, old westerns, and family. He was not a complicated man, but definitely one you wanted on your side. Rob never took himself too seriously and his sense of humor was not always evident at first, but was appreciated by all who knew him well. He leaves behind a wealth of family, friends, and fond memories. Rob is survived by his wife, Frances Krantz; a son, Chad Traub and wife Jennifer; and 2 grandsons, Owen and Eli Traub, all of Flora. He is also survived by a brother, Bill Krantz of Farina; a sister, Wanda McDowell and husband Ronnie of Tennessee; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Evelyn Lynn Shamhart and husband Clyde; and a sister-in-law, Mary Krantz. A funeral ceremony will begin at 3 p.m. Sunday, June 6, 2021, at Frank & Bright Funeral Home in Flora with Ben Farleigh officiating. Burial will follow in Bunker Cemetery, near Rinard, with military funeral honors presented. Visitation will be from 1 until 3 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home. Memorial donations are suggested to Christ's Church of Flora and will be accepted through the funeral home. To share a condolence or memory, visit: www.frankandbright.com
