Tulsa ranchers were surprised by the Quapaw Nations generosity after someone shot and killed one of their pregnant bison and beheaded another.
The Quapaw Nation has their own herd of about 180 bison they've worked to develop for some time. Stand said it is culturally the Quapaw way - they had a means to help someone, so they did.
The bison owner said the two that were shot were the ones with the best horns.
"I went in to feed, and I saw a bunch more blood," Rethke said. "I saw one down and the other buffalo were trying to get it up, and then when I went over there... somebody cut it's head off."
