Safer Gambling Week 2021 confirmed for 1-7 November 20th May 2021 | By Robert Fletcher Safer Gambling Week 2021 will take place from 1-7 November, with organisations behind the initiative to again champion higher standards across the industry. Backed by the Betting and Gaming Council (BGC), Bingo Association and British Amusement Catering Trade Association (Bacta), the project launched in 2017 as Responsible Gambling Week before being rebranded as Safer Gambling Week last year. This year’s event will again see a wide range of safer gambling messages displayed online and in land-based venues across the UK, with the aim of sparking a nationwide conversation on how to bet and gamble responsibly. ....
BGC announces 2021 Safer Gambling Week Share Betting and Gaming Council (BGC) has announced the date for 2021 Safer Gambling Week, due to take place between 1 November and 7 November, in cooperation with the Bingo Association and acta. Since its inception in 2017, the annual campaign has seen the betting and gaming industry collaborate on several safer gambling messages via online and land-based venues, to drive a nationwide conversation on responsible betting. Despite encountering setbacks in the form of closed brick and mortar businesses due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the BGC maintains that last year’s event was a ‘huge success’. National Bingo Day launched to aid critical venue recovery Share Mecca and Buzz Bingo, have joined forces to launch ‘ National Bingo Day’ on Sunday 27 June – providing a vital boost for all British bingo venues returning to business from lockdown. Accustomed to being celebrated across the US, Buzz and Mecca have launched Britain’s version of ‘National Bingo Day’, championed by the Bingo Association. Helping all bingo venues recover, Buzz and Mecca have invited all licensed operators (land-based and retail) to register their interest in supporting National Bingo Day. Miles Baron, Chief Executive of the Bingo Association, stated: “The Bingo Association and the National Bingo Game are delighted to be taking part in National Bingo Day on June 27th, working alongside operators from land-based clubs and online to bring everyone together to celebrate the great game of bingo that we all love.” ....
Tele: It s been incredibly difficult over the past year for us. We were closed from March to September, opened again for six weeks then were closed until 11 December. We were open for two weeks when the new lockdown was announced, so once again our staff were furloughed. We ve been quite lucky in that our owner Brian Fraser has invested a lot of money in our club, but other clubs up and down the country haven t been as fortunate and have sadly closed. Iain and his staff fear that the Container Way venue could become the next casualty if the Bingo Association in Scotland s drive for fresh financial aid does not pay off. ....
