The 14th annual Tight Lines for Troops fighting tournament was held in Manistee.

Tight Lines for Troops is an annual fishing event held on May 20th and 21st in Manistee, to help support our local veterans. It was organized by Captain Bob Guenthardt, a former Ogema of the Little River Band of Ottawa Indians, and a proud army veteran.

MANISTEE — Tight Lines for Troops recently announced it donated $5,000 to three beneficiaries to help various veteran-related causes. The first donation was to the Manistee Veteran's Memorial Park Fund, which was established at the Manistee County Community Foundation as a non-endowed fund to provide support for renovations and enhancements to the Veterans Memorial Park in Manistee. Tight Lines for Troops Fishing Tournament 2021 Canceled Due to COVID-19 December 16, 2020 The 2021 Tight Lines for Troops Fishing Tournament has officially been canceled.  The event that takes veterans out for a day of fishing on Lake Michigan took place every May since 2010, until they canceled the 2020 event back in March because of COVID-19. Now they have decided to cancel next year’s event for the same reasons.
