THE Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) was rendered limited in what it was able to do last year because of the pandemic and is now seeking to be “busier” for its Season 46.
Speaking at a media briefing on Tuesday afternoon, PBA officials, led by chairman Ricky Vargas and commissioner Willie Marcial, shared that they have crafted a “packed” schedule for its coming season, putting consideration on what they are allowed to do during this time of the pandemic.

It is no secret that Terrafirma is interested in Fil-Am Joshua Munzon but it’s too early to tell if he is going to be the team’s No. 1 overall pick in next month’s PBA Rookie Draft.
Dyip governor Bobby Rosales has mentioned the 6-foot-4 Munzon as a candidate although he said that there is no decision yet as to who will the team select as the top overall draft.
“Yes he’s on the list… I think there are 12 players (on the list),” Rosales said in jest when contacted Monday by

CJ Perez, the young star of struggling Terrafirma, is officially heading to San Miguel Beer where he hopes to restore its PBA dominance.
The PBA Commissioner’s Office gave the green light on Tuesday, Feb. 2, 2021 for Terrafirma to ship Perez to SMB in exchange for three player and two first round draft picks.
Under the deal approved by the PBA’s trade committee, the Beermen sent role players Russell Escoto, Gelo Alolino and Matt Ganuelas-Rosser plus their first round selection in the draft set March 14 and another in 2022 in order to receive the 2019 Rookie of the Year.

THE Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) Commissioner’s Office approved on Tuesday the revised deal sending league scoring leader CJ Perez to the San Miguel Beermen.
Submitted for approval last week, the PBA’s trade committee pored over the details of the deal at the weekend before coming up with its decision.
The deal has Mr. Perez going from the Terrafirma Dyip to the Beermen in exchange for role players Matt Ganuelas-Rosser, Russell Escoto, and Gelo Alolino, along with San Miguel’s first-round rookie picks for this year’s draft  (eighth) and in 2022.

PBA News: Fans want SMB to give up a core player to Dyip in CJ Perez trade

Jan 30, 2021
A NUMBER of PBA fans feel San Miguel should add at least a player from its core for the Beermen’s trade with Terrafirma, with CJ Perez as centerpiece, to be fair.
Perez is arguably one of the future stars of the PBA, named Rookie of the Year and earning a spot in the First Mythical Team in 2019, which is why several fans were outraged by the move of Terrafirma to trade its star player to powerhouse San Miguel for Matt Ganuelas-Rosser, Russel Escoto, Gelo Alolino and a first-round draft pick or this year.
San Miguel coach Leo Austria and Terrafirma team governor Bobby Rosales have already explained their side on why the deal was made, but despite their statement, fans continue to resent the deal, saying it is unfair for the Dyip.

Terrafirma governor Bobby Rosales said that he respects the opinion of fans following the stunning decision of the franchise to trade rising star player CJ Perez to San Miguel Beer.
However, the amiable team official asked the people to also respect the Terrafirma decision.
“That’s understandable, napapatunayan lang natin kung gaano ka-passionate ang Pilipino sa basketball. Mahal nila ang basketball, but samin we look at it positively,” said Rosales when he appeared Saturday on the weekly sports shot The Chasedown on One PH channel over CignalTV.
“We encourage them in conversation about issues, it is a healthy situation when fans engage the PBA, the players and the teams. Sa amin we respect their opinion… parati tayo magkakaron ng deperensya, and there will always be two sides to any issue.”

Former league chief: PBA should keep integrity

If you would ask former PBA commissioner Noli Eala, he believes that teams should always aim to win.
Eala said that while teams “will do everything to win,” the league should ensure the fairness of trades amid the controversial pending transaction that will ship Terrafirma star CJ Perez to San Miguel Beer.
“PBA teams will do everything to win. That’s inherent in competition. It’s up to the PBA to ensure the propriety in trades that are supposed to achieve that goal while keeping league integrity,” said Eala through his Twitter account.
