PONTOON BEACH — Madison County Transit has launched the MCT Trails Commemorative Tree & Bench Program.
The new program provides way for residents and trail users to purchase a tree or bench to be placed along an MCT trail to honor a loved one, or recognize an organization, civic group or business.
The MCT trail system includes nine major trails spanning 137 miles, ranging from trails through old-growth forest and unsurpassed views of the Mississippi River, to urban trails connecting parks to outside areas.
“For years we’ve heard from trail users who want to make a contribution to the MCT Trails while commemorating a loved one or an organization,” said MCT Managing Director SJ Morrison. “This program allows residents to become more engaged with the MCT Trails, while providing funds for trail amenities such as benches and trees, which have also been requested.”

GRANITE CITY — Madison County Transit (MCT) is proposing lower fares.
“With wages down and unemployment rates up, there has never been a more critical time to remove the barriers to transit use and help the people of Madison County access jobs, shopping, doctors, and other vital services,” said MCT Managing Director SJ Morrison. “By making bus service simpler and more affordable, we believe that MCT is playing a key role in helping rebuild our local economy.”
A live virtual discussion with MCT staff on the proposed changes is planned 2-3 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 20 from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. by clicking https://bit.ly/34AAqtF or calling 618-437-6446, conference ID 959 787 190#.
