A recent article in this newspaper correctly described my office's new funding request, but its title misleadingly suggested that I've requested an additional 26 staff positions. Not exactly. I have requested 16 full-time slots: 10 attorneys, five investigators, and one paralegal. As explained below, the remaining 10 slots simply convert unusual law-clerk contracts funded by settlement dollars into part-time positions authorized by the Legislature, as they should be.
