Kiwis stranded in Australia call on Government to help them get home

“This pause has caused immense mental stress that is not being recognised by the New Zealand Government or health officials, Macris said. “I would like the Government to realise (that) stranded travellers do not just disappear. We are people who are in stressful situations.”
The Government has repeatedly warned New Zealanders that they could get stuck in Australia if an outbreak of Covid-19 leads to a lockdown or pause in travel, as has been the case with the current suspension in quarantine-free travel between New Zealand and Australia. However, Macris is among those who say this is unfair, particularly for those who have travelled to visit friends and family.
