A couple is currently planning to build a two-story home on the west lawn of the historic site, prompting outcry from some neighbors and historic preservationists.
A group of neighbors are appealing a recent Landmarks Commission decision to approve plans for a large new home next to the landmark Old Spring Tavern on the West Side.
For months, Jon and Brenda Furlow have been seeking to build a large, two-story home behind the mid-1800s Old Spring Tavern at 3706 Nakoma Road near the UW Arboretum.
The commission generally endorsed a proposed home next to the landmark Old Spring Tavern, but thought the house is too wide and asked for revised plans.
