MANILA - Manila Water, one of the two water concessionaires tapped by the government in Metro Manila, on Thursday urged its customers to avail of its free desludging services scheduled for February and March. Dittie Galang, head of Corporate Communications, said water desludging tankers will be at Welfareville Compound in Barangay Addition Hills and at Barangay Buayang Bato, both in Mandaluyong City; Barangay Muzon and Dolores (Upper) in Taytay, Rizal; Barangays Matandang Balara, Obrero, Pansol, Kaunlaran and Culiat in Quezon City; Barangay East Rembo in Makati; Barangays San Roque and Santo Rosario-Silangan in Pateros this month. Galang said residents in these areas can avail of desludging services, free of charge by simply coordinating with their respective barangays for the exact schedule. For the month of March, Manila Water customers in Barangays Concepcion Uno and Parang in Marikina City; Barangay Pinagbuhatan in Pasig, Barangay Plainview in Mandaluyong; Barangays 792, 793, 866, 869, 873, 874, 875, 876 all in Manila; Barangay Progreso in San Juan; San Isidro in Antipolo; Barangays Calzada and Western Bicutan in Taguig can also avail of the same desludging services. Manila Water Corporate Communication Affairs Group head Jeric Sevilla Jr. underscored the importance of septic tank cleaning and siphoning every five years to ensure that all the wastewater collected from the septic vaults will undergo proper treatment through Manila Water's septage treatment plants before they are discharged to the creeks, rivers, and other waterways. He said these will prevent clogging of septic vaults and the overflow of untreated wastewater to the different bodies of water which will cause pollution. "Customers need not wait for their septic tanks to be full before they can avail of our desludging services. It is recommended that whether the septic tank is full or not, customers are encouraged to avail of the service if their barangay is scheduled," Sevilla added. Manila Water customers can also call the company's Customer Help Desk 1627 to inquire about the schedule of the desludging service in their barangays. (PNA) }

In a statement on Tuesday, the city information office (CIO) said of the total number of persons inoculated, 8,811 received their first shots of coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) vaccines, while 1,423 others got their second doses. "Most of the recipients of the vaccines were from 13 barangays covered by the mobile vaccination teams of the city government," the statement said. The barangays included Los Angeles, Ampayon, Bading, Banza, Baan Km3, Doongan, Baobaoan, Pangabugan, Tagabaca, Golden Ribbon, Fort Poyohon, Tungao, and Dankias. The CIO said the mobile vaccination will continue to reach out to other barangays until the three-day vaccination program ends on Wednesday. The mobile vaccination program is set to conduct vaccination in Barangays Buhangin, Cabcabon, Baan Riverside, Sto. Nino, Maibu, Villa Kananga, Lumbocan, Maon, San Mateo, San Vicente, Pagatpatan, Babag, Obrero, Ong Yiu, and Pianing. The office also urged city residents to visit designated vaccination sites for free Covid-19 vaccines. The vaccination sites are situated at the Robinsons Place Butuan, SM City Butuan, Father Saturnino Urios University-Main Gymnasium, MJ Santos Hospital, Butuan Doctors Hospital, Butuan Medical Center, the Philippine National Police Hospital, and the McDonald's Gaisano branch. (Photo courtesy of PRO-13 Information Office) BUTUAN CITY - The Police Regional Office in Caraga (PRO-13) has deployed a total of 429 police personnel to various vaccination sites in the region to provide support to the ongoing three-day Bayanihan, Bakunahan National Vaccination Days. In a statement Tuesday, PRO-13 director Brig. Gen. Romeo Caramat Jr. said of the total police personnel fielded for the November 29 to December 1 massive immunization campaign, 310 are serving as security forces in vaccination sites. "In addition, 46 of the total personnel deployed are serving as vaccinators, 34 as standby nurses, and 48 are medical reserve forces," Caramat said. He added that police personnel involved in the vaccination activity are being handled by the police's Regional Medical and Dental Unit 13. "Our personnel are now working with the other health workers in the regional and provincial hospitals and other designated vaccination sites in the different towns in the region," Caramat said. In this city, police officers are also deployed in vaccination sites at the SM City Mall, Robinsons Place, and the Father Saturnino Urios University Gymnasium. "We also have three mobile vaccination teams deployed in Barangays Banza, Obrero, and Mahogany in Butuan City. With these number of vaccinations sites available, the people will have easier access to the vaccines," Caramat said. Moreover, the region's top cop has joined calls for the general public to support the government's efforts to protect the people by either volunteering at their respective localities or encouraging those who are still unvaccinated to avail of the free vaccines.
