The Florida Department of Health reported 71 new cases of COVID-19 in Volusia County schools and 29 new cases in Flagler County schools last week.  The state has tallied a total of 825 cases in Volusia and Flagler schools — a number that includes private school cases — between Sept. 6 and Dec. 12. BERNARDS TWP. – Republican Township Committeewoman Janice Fields is expected to be the committee’s choice to serve as mayor for 2021. The five-member governing body, which annually rotates the mayoral title among its members, plans to formally choose Fields to succeed fellow Republican Mayor James Baldassare Jr. at its annual reorganization meeting scheduled for 7 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 5, at town hall on Collyer Lane.
