Soyinka threw the challenge in a statement he issued on Thursday following an article disputing his academic record.

Wole Soyinka, the Nobel laureate, has given thirty days as an ultimatum to people challenging his academic records to provide evidence of their allegations to the relevant investigative bodies in Nigeria.

He also said that failure by the accusers to provide evidence within the stipulated time would mean they lack honour and should, as a token of moral recompense, “undertake to jump off the bridge of the symbolic River Niger”.
