Deanna Powers jokingly calls herself a female Quasimodo.
Powers is the one who climbs up to the tower of Brockville’s St. Lawrence Anglican Church to pull the ropes that ring its inspiring chimes, and on Saturday she will be giving those tubular chimes a very special tug.
Saturday marks the 200th anniversary of the Ellacombe apparatus, the frame that allows one person to ring multiple bells, and churches around the world will mark the occasion by ringing their Ellacombe Chimes.
