In 1948, the Bronson movie theater held a grand opening with the show “Words and Music,” starring Judy Garland and Mickey Rooney.
The new building was air-conditioned and proclaimed “Southern Michigan’s most modern and beautiful theater,” according to an Aug. 12, 1993, Bronson Journal article by Kristen Appleyard.
“It was gorgeous,” said June Wilber, Bronson resident, who remembers the glory days of the theater.
A small dome in the entry ceiling looked like the sky at dawn, Wilber said. Another large dome was above the seats. People came from all directions to see movies in Bronson, just for the experience of being in the building, she said.
