Ireland's newest citizens undertook to faithfully observe the laws of the State and to respect its democratic values during three ceremonies in Dublin.

Ireland’s newest citizens come from 131 countries across the globe and are living across the 32 counties of Ireland.

The town of Listowel -- home to fewer than 5,000 people -- is attempting to set a world record for the biggest gathering of Dolly Partons in a public space. Tickets for today's event, which is also a charity fundraiser, cost $33 and include a blonde wig.

"We want to bring people in and get them talking and reading, as well as doing things like combatting loneliness and creating excitement around books."

For too many years, derelict and vacant houses, business premises and other properties have blighted the cities, towns, villages and countryside of Ireland. These properties are bought and sold by people who want to trade in them for profit or who want to retain them to demonstrate their wealth to the locals. They do this with disregard for the environment of natives and visitors.
