Heat wave triggers Brandon water restrictions, new lawn watering rules

The extreme heat in recent weeks has put a strain on Brandon water resources. On June 8, the city moved to the Yellow Stage 2 designation, which limits lawn watering to just one day per week with no lawn watering between the hours of 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. The move to Stage 2 was triggered when the city’s water usage surpassed 1.6 gallons per day for three straight days. The water designations of Stages 1, 2 and 3 were implemented in 2017.
