5/5/21 University of Iowa freshman and former Liberty star Brylee Klosterman has been named the d1softball.com D1 Softball Freshman of the Week. The North Liberty native hit .615 on the weekend and drove home five runs. She slugged 1.077 and had an on base percentage of .667. She also scored six runs for the Hawkeyes. Klosterman also hit her first and second career home runs. Klosterman was also named Big Ten Co-Freshman of the Week by the Big Ten Conference on Tuesday. Iowa plays host to Nebraska in a four-game series that starts Friday at 3pm at Pearl Field.
PISCATAWAY, NJ (KWWL) -- Allison Doocy kept the Rutgers bats at bay, allowing zero hits in Sunday's 8-0 5-inning win. The performance marked just the 18th no-hitter in Iowa softball history and the first since 2015. “We were all ready to go today,” said Doocy “We are rolling right now. The bats were moving, and we are also doing really well on defense. I loved what I saw today, and I am ready for the next few weeks.” Junior Riley Sheehy had a 2-for-3 day with a pair of RBI's. Freshman Brylee Klosterman hit her second home run of the season and tallied two RBIs in the game on 2-of-3 hitting.

Nebraska’s opponent this weekend – the Iowa Hawkeyes – was also recognized as Allison Doocy was named the Big Ten Pitcher of the Week and Brylee Klosterman shared Freshman-of-the-Week accolades with Andrews.
Kinney is the first Husker freshman to be named conference player of the week since Taylor Edwards was the Big 12 Player of the Week once during the 2011 season. A native of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Kinney contributed offensively and in the circle during Nebraska’s four-game sweep of Maryland. Offensively, she reached base in seven of her eight trips to the plate in the series, finishing 4-for-5 with three home runs, four runs scored and six RBIs. Kinney also started the third game of the series in the circle and allowed only one run in 5.0 innings.
