A FLOOD warning for the River Aire has been issued at Shipley as Storm Christoph continues to have an impact in the district. The Environment Agency put the flood warning in place for Shipley including east of Hurst Mill extending through Roberts Park at Saltaire towards Baildon Bridge. This also includes the Charlestown area from Dockfield Road as far as Buck Mill Bridge. The warning says immediate action is required. FLOODING caused chaos across parts of the Bradford district today as Storm Christoph continued to wreak havoc with heavy rain. Flood warnings were in place in Shipley, Saltaire, Bingley and Cottingley as the River Aire was particularly affected. Fire crews were called out to Castlefields in Bingley to pump flood water into the river as the heavy rain continued throughout the day. Local historian Norman A Alvin traces the history of Thackley's historic Buck Mill Bridge, which contractors have just finished repairing: There has been a crossing point of the River Aire near the site of Buck Mill from at least Medieval times. A trackway mentioned in a 1393 court case came from Idle along the current Buck Lane and across the river Aire at the ford near Buck Mill.
