Journalist Tarun Tejpal has agreed to publish an apology in a national daily as part of an appeal filed in the Delhi High Court. Tejpal and his reporter Aniruddha Bahal are challenging a previous order that awarded a compensation of Rs 2 crore to Major General M S Ahluwalia for defamation. They have also agreed to deposit Rs 10 lakh each with the court. The court has stayed the proceedings on Ahluwalia's petition for execution of the decree. The appeal will be heard in April to determine the damages to be paid.

The appellants (Tejpal and Bahal) had also challenged a September 1, 2023, order of the single judge bench which had dismissed their review of the July 2023 order.
