Michael Scheffres’ claimer-turned-multiple stakes winner Factor It In, narrowly beaten in a pair of out-of-town graded stakes last year, will have home track advantage when he makes his return to graded company in the $250,000 General George (G3) Saturday at Laurel Park.
Reid, Jr. said that while Ridin With Biden’s previous stakes scores in the Greenwood Cup and the Deputed Testamony in July at Laurel Park came in wire-to-wire fashion, his Turkey Trot victory showed he can be effective from off-the-pace as well.
Maryland racing takes center stage this Saturday, when Laurel Park hosts the 37th running of the Jim McKay Maryland Million. This year’s Maryland Million racecard is one of the best yet, with at least 10 horses in the main body of 10 of the 12 races on the card, and six races with 14 horses in the main body.
More than 300 horses have been pre-entered in a dozen Maryland Million stakes and starter stakes, including defending champs in three of the stakes.
Creative Minister, the third-place finisher in the Preakness Stakes (G1) this spring, is expected for the $400,000 Oklahoma Derby (G3) Sunday, Sept. 25, at Remington Park.
