Spillson's torn down to make way for new restaurant, gas station
Spillson's torn down to make way for new restaurant, gas station The former Spillson’s Restaurant and Famous Original Rice Building in Frenchtown Township, a once popular eating spot for thousands of residents and tourists, is being torn down to make way for a new gas station, convenience store and drive-through restaurant. An excavator run by Bush Contracting of Michigan began razing the structure in the rain Thursday at the junction of N. Monroe St. (M-125) and N. Telegraph Rd. (US-24). The site is just south of a former Mobil gas station that closed several years ago at the corner.
