Uber will open up its platform to London's black cabs next year, the ride-hailing firm said on Wednesday, trying to win over the British capital's taxis after a decade of tensions.
The protesters, under the Rashtriya Taxi Chalak Malak Sanghatana, demanded hike in number of authorised parking sites outside railway station and tab on RTO action against cab drivers. A delegation met assistant RTO Harshal Dake and demanded RTO intervention in reaching out to cab aggregators in bringing parity in commission with auto rickshaw drivers operating in the city.
As part of their campaign, members of the TGPWU have decided to boycott cab rides if fares to the airport are less than Rs. 1000 to 1200.
Sudhirkumar Shrivastava, a senior administrator who chairs the group, has suggested that cabs be granted a maximum of 20 minutes to arrive at the pickup location, with penalties for lateness. The group, which was established in April, will soon submit its final report for the required endorsement.
