On October 3, Caliber Midstream notified the North Dakota Department of Environmental Quality of a produced spill but noticed the amount was incorrect.
Caliber Midstream reported two separate pipeline spills in McKenzie County on both Tuesday, Oct. 3, and Wednesday, Oct. 4. The volume of the Tuesday spill has risen to 60,732 gallons.
The amount spilled was 100 barrels, or 4,200 gallons.
BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — North Dakota regulators have granted temporary approval to a natural gas pipeline in McKenzie County that has been operating for years without a state permit. North Dakota Public Service Commission Chairwoman Julie Fedorchak said she was not sure why the 2.6-mile (4.18 kilometers) Caliber Midstream pipeline has been operating since 2014 without proper permitting.
