Wines here in california. and i think we are going to follow suit with olive oil. reporter: olive oil in california, less than one million gallons have been produced per year. but they are saying within the next year or two 500 million gallons will be up online. right now u.s. is the fourth largest consumer of olive oil in the world but we only produce 1% of what we consume. imagine if they can silt as good quality olive oil to the american consumer. there is a recent lawsuit that was filed last week by restaurants in slacks upset because much of the oil they have been getting that said extra virgin was not what it was sold as. california olive growers say that will help them provide a good quality olive oil and get into the market.
