The Knox County Area Partnership for Economic Development's Annual meeting held Thursday was focused on solving the problem of attracting and retaining professional talent. The meeting featured a panel of five professionals who had located or re-located to the Galesburg area in the past few years. They discussed some of the qualities and amenities that drew them to settle here. Many of them moved from big cities and appreciate the low commute times, low cost of living, and affordable housing. Jessica Donaldson, the Director of Behavioral Health with ROE 33, is one of those native to Galesburg that recently moved back after almost a decade in New York. Donaldson says she realized that she missed the perks of living in a small town. "You feel like the community really gets to know you and you have an opportunity to get to know the community, for people to know your name and be curious about you," Donaldson says.
