CARA MONTARSI LOCK HAVEN For years, the general image of business owning and operating only included male leadership roles suits and ties with female-counterparts sitting at desks taking phone calls and messages. Today, the narrative has shifted and continues to mold into a more diverse realm of women owning their own businesses or even operating as president or CEO of personal or corporate companies. The world has not only become more accepting of women in more authoritative roles, but according to a study by Babson College, having at least one woman in an executive position has much higher value than those who have only men in the same positions, and are even worth 64 percent more at first funding than male represented companies. ....
LOCK HAVEN Heroes are people who make sacrifice to do things for others. Military veterans and active-duty servicemen and women are among them. Emergency first-responders are another. And, in this pandemic, health-care workers should be added to the list. That’s just what Downtown Lock Haven Inc. is doing in expanding its popular Hometown Hero Banner Program, in conjunction with the Clinton County Veterans Affairs Office. Founded in 2007 and emulated by communities across Pennsylvania and the country, the local banner program has, since its inception, displayed thousands of banners on streetlights through the city and Riverwalk. Marie Vilello, downtown manager, and Cara Montarsi, Hometown Hero chairperson and a local insurance agent, are heading up a committee that is very excited about the next cycle of banners to be formally unveiled next August. ....
