Alaska Teacher's George Floyd Comments 'Racially Insensitive,' Placed on Leave

A high school teacher in Fairbanks, Alaska has been placed on administrative leave for telling students that George Floyd would still be alive today if he had complied with police.
In 15-minute YouTube video posted last week, a teacher referred to as “Ms. Gardner” hosted a virtual lecture with students about several recent high-profile shootings involving altercations between law enforcement and African-Americans.

On the subject of George Floyd, the teacher said that former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin “abused his authority” and “was complicit in George Floyd’s death.”
“But if George Floyd had, at the beginning when they got him out of the car and went to put him in the police car if he had just sidled into the car and slid it in there, and let them put his legs in, he would be alive today, and you know that’s true,” the woman added. ....

An Alaska high school teacher was placed on administrative leave after she was caught on camera telling her students over Zoom that George Floyd would still be alive if he complied with police orders.
Daily Mail Online reported that one of the students parents uploaded the 15-minute video on YouTube. In the video, the Alaska teacher referred to as Ms. Gardner was seen with a face mask while talking to her students about police killing Black people, including George Floyd s death.

A school teacher has been suspended for saying during a Zoom class that George Floyd
would still be alive if he had complied with the police during his arrest.
In a 15-minute video, posted on YouTube by a parent, the teacher at Lathrop High School in Fairbanks, Alaska, also said that people should expect to be targeted by cops if dress like 
thugs.

Alaska Teacher Put on Leave, Said George Floyd Should've Complied


Last week a video showing a high-school teacher s remarks on police killings was posted online.
At one point she said George Floyd should ve obeyed the police and told her class to always do so.
The teacher was placed on administrative leave within days of the video being posted.
A high-school teacher in Fairbanks, Alaska, has been placed on administrative leave over remarks she made during a class discussion on police killings, KUAC reported.
A video of the discussion which happened during a virtual class meeting was posted to YouTube last week.
While school officials have not named the teacher, she is addressed as Ms. Gardner in the video, and a Connie Gardner is listed as a special-education teacher on the Lathrop High School website. ....
