Benefis nurse Kayla VanderKooy on Wednesday gave Great Falls resident Tanya Schaefer the 10,000th vaccine administered at the Cascade County Community COVID-19 Vaccination Clinic. For Schaefer, 61, the shot means protecting not only herself but especially her mother, her friends, her community and beyond. “Our country will be safer. My mother will be safer,” she said. “I couldn’t afford to bring it to her.
