Largest big city do the same? i think it is a difficult political question and we will see so many variants depending on the particular region. i don t know that new york s mayor will want to reimpose mask mandates and when the cdc changed its kblins a few weeks ago, back at the end of february about when a community would need to reinstate mask mandate, it is a much higher threshold and philadelphia doesn t actually meet the cdc metrics for a recommendation to reinstate mask mandates because the agency weights hospitalizations so much heavier than case counts now. so if we see cases go up but not a huge spike in hospitalizations alongside it, i don t think communities will have imposed mask mandates. if communities are seeing more hospitalizations or a surge in hospitalizations, they will probably be more willing to go along with a mask mandate but if we see the case increase without the subsequent increase in hospitalizations or death, i ....
Ba.2 is original but not omicron. we know how contagious omicron is. this is more contagious according to british data. 23% of new infections in the last week in the u.s. were ba.2 and 14% the week before that. that s a big jump in this week. a stronger appearance in uk and then hong kong. look at the green line. hong kong has a way higher case increase. uk is also higher there in red. u.s. is in the bottom in blue. here s the issue in the u.s. when you look at senior citizens with third doses of covid-19 vaccine, it is really quite low. in the uk, 81% of seniors have had the third dose. in the united states, only 60%. that leaves millions of u.s. seniors at risk because either they ve only had one dose or their second dose was more than five months ago. you know, their vaccine status is not ideal. jim? ....
