In the aftermath of Community’s 59-29 loss to Harrisburg, Trojans junior forward Kaden Brooks admitted breaking down a team of that caliber is difficult.
“We don’t play teams like that,” he said.
By “like that,” Brooks meant a squad capable of dropping threes at will – from any point beyond the arc, by any player in a dark uniform. Three Bulldogs combined to hit eight treys, led by Brayden Ott who collected 12 points from three-point land. But Harrisburg proved equally accurate when they darted inside.

In a game where teams trade runs – 6-0 one way 7-0 the other – it’s often the last run that wins it. That was not Community R-6 on Friday. Despite a promising third quarter spurt that saw the Trojans grab the lead, visiting Slater wound up on top in the end, 51-43.
“Slater is pretty good – that’s first and foremost,” said Community head coach Matthew Thomas. “We just couldn’t hold on.”
The visitors brought both speed and size to the floor, the latter in the form of Jakobie Breshears. A large presence in the paint, he grabbed 13 rebounds and scored on a number of put backs. But the Trojans zone defense was able to disrupt the Wildcats’ outside shooters and keep things close.
