Fayette County Public Schools announced Thursday night that multiple bus routes will be canceled Friday morning. Officials say this is due to projected absences among transportation team members.
“This is certainly not an ideal situation, and we apologize for this disruption to the service provided for your family,” said Fayette school district spokesperson Dia Davidson-Smith.
Linda Blackford: With a nearly $1 billion budget, Fayette officials need to clearly explain what they’re spending money on and why every school doesn’t have dedicated arts instruction.
“We saw the impossible situation our school was faced with in losing funding ... so we decided to step up and help provide students with fun, engaging art programs,” PTA President Kerri Hinkle said.
After the decision from the school's site-based decision making council, many in the parent teacher association knew they had to do something to keep the arts alive.
