That our continual fascination with her, problematic is not the right word. it s sort of like catnip for us political types. why do you think that is? because hillary clinton is fascinating. she has been in our lives for, what, for 30 years, and there s no question that she is capable, competent. she would have been a terrific president, but it s a little too easy to focus on her when we ve got a whole field of people on the democratic side who are also chomping at the bit for november 6th to happen so they can make their calculations as to whether they are going to run. i think hillary clinton would love to pass the baton to the next generation. i mean, you know, vice president biden is talking about running. will he run? i don t know. yeah. all right. thank you, always enjoy. president trump again, ....
Right, ali. your home country where you are born there. they just have a different term for this. if you re born there, you re a canadian citizen. so this seems to be catnip before the election. something that will rally up the base, get people talking about anchor babies like the president threw around that term a lot during his own election. this is also a point that he came out with of his top priorities as we remembered early february of 2017 when he first came into office. he said he wanted to repeal this, but we ve just not gone back to it. it would certainly be near impossible to do through an executive action. julia, thanks very much. julia ainsley covering this story. i want to bring in the president of the national constitution center and a law professor at george washington university, our good friend jeff rosen. jeff, good to see you. great to be here. let s just talk about the mechanics of this thing. the president would not be able to do this by executive order. p ....
Does this play? this is a great issue for republicans, the caravan can t possibly get here by election day so they don t have to worry about actually dealing with the problem. what they have is an issue the president is in texas tonight. he is in the first competitive race for a long time, this story is catnip, it s perfect because it plays on all of the fears that they can count on to drive persuadable voters in the suburbs toward republican candidates. check, clearly immigration law when it comes to central america does have these big loopholes that this administration has been talking about for quite some time. we have this very sad pitiable situation actually, in which people are being incentivized to take this long, expensive, dangerous journey from a desperately failed state basically in honduras where life is very desperate and unsafe, ....
Is nothing to do with the fbi. the fbi has done a background check, and as all the snow they talk to everybody in every aspect of your life. they deal with every part. let me finish. that s not true. you don t know who they talk to you, michael. neither do you. you don t know. they dealt through every part of your personal life, and everybody who s in the business of legal prosecution knows that this is a police matter. this is for the local police. here s the problem, after 36 years, they are going to talk to dr. ford, who seems unwilling to talk to anyone. they re going to talk to brett kavanaugh, and there is the third person involved who denies that this happened. we are going to learn nothing from this process. what we know today is what we know. which is, brett kavanaugh s character is on display, and on trial. i know him, and he should pass that test. dana: let me ask you this, michael. we don t have a determination yet if she is going to come to the hearing and testif ....
Prosecutors, an ability to charge and bifurcate charges and try you in two separate trials which can bankrupt many a man he s been found guilty once and now he pled guilty a second time but i don t think you can necessarily say just because he pled guilty that he may have something incriminated on the president. eric: why would everyone assume that? i think everybody would assume it because optically when you your former campaign chairman pleading guilty to a crime something that took place 12 years ago, something that has nothing to do with russian collusion or the president it s sexy, it s interesting, it s fascinating, it s like catnip to the media and, yes, they want to focus in but doesn t mean necessarily that the president did something wrong. eric: he was part of the meeting with jash d kushner, they have emails, wait a minute, they are ....
