BUSINESSES across Inverclyde are being urged to support new mums as they make their way out of lockdown. The infant feeding team at Port Glasgow Health Centre is encouraging organisations to sign up to the Breastfeeding Friendly Scotland scheme. The free initiative, backed by the Scottish Government, provides information on how to make premises friendly and welcoming for nursing mums. A range of Inverclyde groups, businesses and services are already signed up and the team are now encouraging more to get involved. Health improvement practitioner Laura Downie says that the onus should be on organisations to make mothers feel comfortable.
