Moving forward, Kenanga expects Digi to continue gaining postpaid subscribers at the expense of postpaid average revenue per user (Arpu). The Jaringan Prihatin program, coupled with DIGI’s entry-level postpaid plans, should continue to lift its postpaid subs base. On the prepaid front, Digi will continue efforts to attract more Malaysian subscribers as border closures continue to reduce its migrant worker subs base. The merged company will be named Celcom Digi Berhad, the Norwegian company said in a press release. Telenor and Axiata will work towards finalising agreements in relation to the proposed transaction within the second quarter of 2021 following due diligence, it added. The new company will be called Celcom Digi Berhad, with an equal ownership estimated at 33.1 percent each by Axiata Group and Telenor Asia. Idham Nawawi, the current CEO of Celcom Axiata will be appointed as CEO of Celcom Digi Berhad while Albern Murty (current CEO of Digi) will become Deputy Chief Executive Officer. Both Telco giants said that the merged company “will have the capacity to invest even more to provide better quality of service and at competitive rates. Customers also will be able to maintain their choice of mobile operator brand, as both Celcom and Digi brands will continue as is post-merger.” ....
