The state Supreme Court has ordered a new trial in a lawsuit filed by Centerplan Construction, the original developer of Dunkin’ Donuts Park, against the city of Hartford, concerning the company’s termination from the project following a dispute over alleged construction delays. The legal question before the state’s high court was whether the plaintiffs – Middletown-based Centerplan and DoNo Hartford LLC – "controlled" the architect and were therefore responsible for any mistakes in, and changes to, the stadium design. 

In the ongoing, years-long saga over the construction of Dunkin’ Donuts Park, the state Supreme Court on Thursday unanimously ordered a new trial concerning the city of Hartford’s termination of the original developers in 2016 for allegedly not finishing the ballpark on time.
